Len Freeman

Experienced Faceter

Len’s talent for cutting allows the true potential of each gemstone to be attained. Our rough is hand-selected, mainly obtained from artisan miners at source, where we have developed a trusted relationship over the years and brought back to our own workshop in Plettenberg Bay for processing.  Len’s passion for his stones and his level of skill in his trade is evident in the exquisitely cut gemstones that he produces

About GemologyAfrica

A husband and wife team, our love of rocks started a long time ago. Len has a close relationship with nature, growing up in an outdoor environment, keen collector of butterflies, botany interests and sharing his knowledge and passion for stones.

Mandy enjoys travelling to source rough and mineral specimens, and interacting with the communities that we support. Her creative talent is used to photograph and market our products and design unique jewellery.

Over the years, we have become more involved in not just collecting mineral specimens from Southern Africa, but also taking the creation of Mother Nature and transforming it into treasure in the form of faceted gemstones and unique jewellery.

Using our love of travel as a catalyst, we travel Africa to see and source rough and mineral specimens for our own collection and to share with others who share similar passion. We like to buy our rough at source, and have developed a trusting relationship with the artisanal miners that we support.
